Ipomoea (Railroad Vine , Goat's foot creeper, Goat's foot convolvulus) is a creeping herb like a Water convolvulus. This Plant is found in the coastal areas. It has been used as a medicine in many countries for treating the rheumatism, boils, pyodermas and hemorrhoid bleeding. It was also used as a laxative.
In Thailand, the coastal fishermen use this plant for relieving the jellyfish poison and boil with water for relieving the skin itching by taking a bath. It was used for relieving the flatulence and spasm. Its seeds were used as a purgative and a stomachache reliever. Its root juice can be used as a diuretic. The popularity and the effectiveness of this plant are for relieving the jellyfish poison. Therefore, it is formulated in the form of cream for convenient usage.
Its active ingredients are the volatile esters or diterpenoids. such as B-Damascenone and E-Phytol, which have the anti-histamine like and the anti-spasmodic activities.
